May Day, the day of International Unity, Struggle and Solidarity of the working class, had not been celebrated for many years in Turkey. First mass celebration was in 1976 with an enthusiastic rally joined by more than a hundred thousand workers. That was a symbol of the struggle of the working class against capitalism and after that the ruling class failed to erase May Day from the memories of workers.
